Sharing music is one of my "love languages". I enjoy sharing my music taste with others, and I truly appreciate those that have put me on to great music throughout the years.
Check out what has been heavy in my rotation for the month of December.
Enjoy!
1. Lay with Me by Ebubé
[R&B]
The instrumental in the first 20ish seconds of this song gives me goosebumps. I stumbled across this artist when I was listening to an R&B spotify radio that just kept shuffling through. I hadn't heard about him prior to this year but ever since this song came on my feed, I've been obsessed.
It's so grown and sexy. Just overall great vibes. He does a really good job with pouring the emotions out on this song. A solid 10 and that's why I can't get enough of it!

2. Wetin Dey by Odunsi
[Afrobeats]
This definitely more of a summer vibes song, but it still is a hit! I brought it back on repeat this month cause it just makes you feel good and alive. Afrobeats is a top tier genre and I'm just glad folks are giving credit where credit is due. He has some great other hits to checkout too!

3. Sweet Lies by Qendresa
[Neosoul]
This is more of an old school vibe. Cruising in the whip kind of vibe. The beat is what made me fall in love with it overall. It reminds me of something that was released in like the 80s. I discover gems like this through Spotify shuffle and I'm forever grateful!

4. ABOUT TIME by FOURTÉ & Remi Soul
[R&B]
This is purely instrumental, but it still hits. You can hear some influence from Usher's work in the beat in how they reworked one of his more popular songs.
Sometimes the beat is enough for a song and this is a prime example. I love every second of this.

5. On the Run by Kelela
[R&B]
I was introduced to Kelela back in college and have been a fan of hers ever since! I haven't listened to a song of hers that I disliked. She's pure talent. This song is a testament to her hard work and overall talent. Be sure to check it out and more of her discography.

6. LIFE IS A GAMBLE by Tame Tiger
[Rap]
Funny enough I discovered this artist while listening to Gunna and their flows are pretty similar. I guess Gunna already got "sons" lol. I had this on repeat this month cause I couldn't get the flow out of my head everytime I listened to it. He's from South Africa and I'm always gonna support an African artist! Overall a solid song.

7. Deep in The Shallow End by Jenevieve
[Neosoul]
This song is definitely a bit more deep (no pun intended). I think Jenevieve does a really great job capturing what it means to be overwhelmed with emotion or just in general.
As we get older, there are more emotions to feel, but the beauty of emotions is knowing there are ways to process them!
I respect Jenevieve as an artist and have been a big fan since I first listened to "Baby Powder". Incredibly talented!

8. MIDNIGHT SNACK by Icee Red ft G Bliz
[Pop]
The song starts out smooth and then quicky transitions to an upbeat track with a crazy beat that you can't help but dance to. It's great for when you are getting ready or served perfectly as background music.

9. M.I.A by Ravyn Lenae
[Pop]
Sometimes you just want to be M.I.A. When I was much younger I definitely had more FOMO than I do now but as I get older, I've realized I'm not really missing out on things.
This song really captures that vibe of being stuck between wanting to be in the know of things, but realizing there's a bit of a risk and fun in being M.I.A. Overall a great song from an even greater album. I'm glad to see Ravyn is becoming more mainstream!

10. Legalize by Mr. Eazi
[Afrobeats]
Love is so sweet and this song really captures what it means to be in love. Mr. Eazi is only capable of making hits in my eyes, so I was not disappointed when I heard this song for the first time. If I had to pick an artist that served as the backdrop for my college experience, it would be Mr. Eazi!
This song is just too beautiful. I had it on repeat and when I thought I was done listening to it, I ran it back once more.

Thanks for listening. Be on the lookout for January's rotation!
