Sharing music is one of my "love languages". I enjoy sharing my music taste with others, and I truly appreciate those that have put me on to great music throughout the years.

Check out what has been heavy in my rotation for the month of November.

Enjoy!

1. Endless Night by Maeta

[Neosoul]

The first 15 seconds of this song just invite you in. I instantly recognized this is a KAYTRANADA beat from the first listen. Maeta's voice is smooth as butter.

She has a great voice and I'm hoping she becomes more mainstream in the near future!

2. SHOTTI by GoldLink

[Rap]

GoldLink is so talented. Shoutout Aliceya Kenner for putting me on to him freshmen year. I've been listening to him ever since.

He's not only really talented, but also a very kind individual. When I met him in person, he was so chill, laidback, and humble. It felt like I was catching up with an old friend. Overall, really enjoyed his most recent album. This is a great dance around the crib song!

3. Soweto Blues by Juls, Busiswa, Jaz Karis

[House| Afrobeats| Amapiano]

This isn't just a song. It's an experience. It's timeless. It's everything. Juls really produced a legendary hit with this one.

I discovered this song during the pandemic and the song came back in my rotation this month. A great listen. There are not many songs out there that I consider to be a 10/10, but this one would definitely be one of them.

4. Tales By Moonlight by Tiwa Savage ft Amaarae

[Afrobeats]

This is a wonderful collaboration between Tiwa and Amaarae. The music video is just as a great as the song.

Tiwa is a musical pioneer and her collaboration with younger artists like Amaarae warms my heart and great magic came out of it.

Amaarae has very distinct vocals, and she added great flavor to the song! I also like how you can tell that production experimented with putting various instruments and sounds together.

This song has been on repeat because it just lifts your spirits and makes you feel sexy.

5. SIDE OF YOU by Jaz Karis

[UK R&B]

This song is messy. The reality is behavior like this should never be condoned. Both parties are always at fault.

I've never really understood people that go after people in relationships or people in relationships acting like they are still single, but behavior like that unfortunately does exist.

I think the behavior is ego-driven and is an unfortunate situation that great songs like this are born from. She starts out swinging with the lines, "Does your girl know you talk like this?" Jaz is so underrated. I found out that she is from London a couple years back.

6. First, Do You Gotta Man? by ïnnü

[R&B]

Everybody should give this song at least one listen. The combination of the production and vocals will change your life. It is such a bop. I can never play it just once.

He reminds me of Miguel and he is so talented! His background vocals on this are mesmerizing. His lil rap at the end was cute too.

7. Chemicals by SG

[Pop]

In life there are just times where you need to completely let loose and feel the beat. This song is perfect for that. It gets you in the zone to feel carefree.

It's just a feel good song that you can dance to or even run to. The beat is the main character for sure.

It kind of reminds me of what would've been played at the party in the movie Project X.

.........

8. Alter Ego (KAYTRANADA REMIX) by Doechii ft JT

[Rap]

The original song is already great, but the way that KAYTRANADA slows it down with this remix is incredible!

His style is just one of a kind and it really shows with this song specifically. He took it to another level imo. Doechii and JT's verses hit a bit different when they're riding a slower beat.

.........

9. Vibes by Nemir

[R&B (FR)]

A French R&B gem! Kel-P the producer went crazy on the beat for this one. This song reminds me of like a vacation to tropical location while you're soaking up the sun at the beach.

It also has a bridge! Not a lot of songs these days have kept this formula. It's definitely something that many recent R&B songs are missing.

10. Zouk-la Sé Sel Médikaman Nou Ni by Kassav

[Zouk]

I have been trying to find this song for years!!! It was always playing at our Cameroonian Njangi parties growing up. I recently found it again after watching a Rich the Kid's "How Haitian Are You?" interview and he mentioned it.

It is originally a Guadeloupean song by the band Kassav, but us Africans love with it just as much, especially Francophones. It is timeless and the beat reminds me of my childhood. Been playing it a lot this month.

Thanks for listening. Be on the lookout for December's rotation!
